In the Marshall Sed-Paleo Lab, we tackle questions of paleoenvironments! If you are interested in conducting research on fossils, sediments, or stratigraphy, please peruse the Research topics page to see what topics we are working on, and then reach out to discuss opportunities (past students have conducted projects ranging in duration from 1 semester to summer to multiple years). We use field-based approaches to collect data, survey and identify invertebrate fossils, analyze rocks and fossils in thin section under the microscope, and collaborate with other paleontologists and geochemists to tell detailed stories of Earth's past.
